Title: Mic-raculous
Author: KGX2001
Rating: PG
Pairing: Michael/Holly, Jim
Word Count: 814
Disclaimer: Sadly, I do not own any of the characters, or The Office; if I did, Holly Flax would be a regular and the eternal cheese to Michael Scott's Macaroni.
Summary: Holly and Michael meet for the first time since their breakup at a New York Corporate function...

___________

They had run into one another at the big corporate meeting in New York, a compilation of all the Dunder Mifflin branches. Michael had seen her from afar and was instantly drawn to her. About halfway over, Holly met eyes with him, as if she knew his exact location. They both smiled softly.

“Hey, Michael--” Jim walked over, “Uh, David Wallace wants to meet in, like, 35 minutes to talk about Scranton numbers, so…” He paused, noticing the odd look on Michael’s face. “Um, Michael, what are you starring at?” No, response. “Hello? Earth to Michael...” He waved his hand in front of Michael’s face.

“Huh, what?” Michael glanced over distractedly, faintly irritated at Jim for ruining the moment.

“You okay? You look kinda--”

“There she is, Jim, my HR goddess…Holly’s here.”

“Holly? Where?” He followed Michael’s gaze which led to the beautiful, golden blond Holly Flax who had once replaced Toby in HR. She was The Ex-, Major Dork #2, and as some would claim, Michael Scott’s soul mate. “Oh, yes, she is.”

“What do I do? Should I talk to her? I want to talk to her…” He looked longingly at Holly, who was speaking with some other lady he didn’t know.

“Go talk to her then.” Jim Shrugged.

“Really? You don’t think I’ll make a mess of it?”

“Do you think you’re going to?”

“I don’t know…Pam said after reading her letter that Holly still had feelings for me and that it wasn’t over.”

“Well, there’s only one way to find out. Go talk to her. See what happens.” Jim patted him on the back. “But definitely don’t mention the whole letter thing. That probably wouldn’t go over so well.”

“Okay…Okay.” He took a deep breath. “I can do this. I just need to suck this up—That’s what she said!” Michael chuckled, now feeling confident, and made the rest of the way towards Holly.

She looked over again as he walked closer, her eyes bright with thinly suppressed emotion.

“Hiya Holly.”

She turned completely away from the other woman she was talking to.

“Michael! Hi…”

They each paused, before both asked in unison, “How are you?”

The jinx caught them off guard and they started laughing nervously.

“I guess I owe you a coke; lady’s first,” Michael laughed giving a slight bow. “How are you doing?”

She tucked a strand of hair behind her ear and looked down, smiling. “Uh, I’m alright…You know, working my way through the meetings ‘til the after party.”

“Ha, nice! Me too. I hear ya, party queen!” He did a small dance and she laughed.

“I heard you came by my office a few months ago...”

Michael paused for a second, “ Oh, yeah, that—that was…well, I was giving a meeting about how to get better sales and stuff…David Wallace had me go to all the branches and talk, you know, so...”

“Yeah,” she said avoiding meeting his eyes, “Yeah, I heard…Sorry I wasn’t there—stupid last minute HR retreat…didn’t get back until the day after you left.”

“Yeah, the receptionist told me about that…say, uh, where’s that guy, whats-his-name…TJ…JB…?”

“AJ?” Holly frowned, blushing.

“Oh, was that his name?...Yeah…I thought you two were, um--”

She quickly cut him off. “We’re not. We’re not together anymore.”

Michael looked up, hopeful. “Really?”

She met his eyes, a smile on her lips. “Yeah…I broke it off with him months ago.”

“Oh…” He did the math in his head. “After I left Nashua?”

“Yes…I guess I realized that he couldn’t make me happy…”

They both just stood there, gazes locked as smiles slipped slowly into grins.

“Hey, Michael—Michael!” Jim walked over to the love struck pair. “Oh, hey Holly.”

“Hey Jim,” she said, her eyes never leaving Michael’s.

“Yeah, so, um, I hate to break your conversation up and everything—you both seem really happy, which is good —but, Michael, it’s time for the meeting with David Wallace; we should probably start heading over there now.”

“Screw the meeting, Jim. I want to stay here.”

Holly took Michael’s hand. “No, Jim’s right, you should go to the meeting. But…maybe we could grab some dinner together afterwards?” Her eyes were hopeful, and made Michael’s heart skip a beat.

“Yes! Dinner’s great! Let’s do that.”

“Okay!” She squeezed his hand. “I’ll see you soon, then!”

“Indeed you shall, Miss Holly-gram!”

“Haha! Bye!” She gave his hand another squeeze then let go.

“Bye, Holly!” Michael chimed, as Jim guided him away.

He was walking on air. Holly wanted him back, and he’d never lose her again! It was, as Holly would say, Mic-raculous!

So, I pretty much fell in love with Holly Flax the same way Michael Scott did--the first see with my ears. Seeing the two together made my heart melt, so I thought I'd put them into an artistic translation. Long live "The Office" and long live Holly Flax, Michael Scott's soul mate!

Right, so hello to anyone that's reading this. I've actually been on LJ for quite a while, but mostly just to browse communities, etc. I've neglected my own journal in the process. So, I suppose this is an attempt to remedy that. If anyone has any suggestions for how to revamp this page let me know! Thanks!
